It’s time to connect the new regulator to the propane tank. Follow the regulator’s manufacturer recommendations. Use the appropriate fittings and thread sealant.

Hand-tighten the connection:

  • Start by hand-tightening the fittings. Avoid cross threading the fittings.
  • Once it is hand-tight, use a wrench for final tightening.
  • Use a wrench to secure the connection.
  • Avoid over-tightening, which can damage the threads or create leaks.

Step 8: Test for Leaks

After you’ve connected the new regulator, checking for gas leaks is crucial. You can do this using a simple soap and water solution. Apply the mixture to the connections and watch for any bubbles.
