Are you planning to hit the dusty trail in your RV this weekend? While you prepare, there are a few things you could add to your gear list to make your weekend more enjoyable!
This will be a birds eye view covering topics from convenience and safety to comfort and entertainment, there are numerous accessories available that cater to different needs and preferences. In this blog article, we will explore seven must-have RV accessories that will take your outdoor adventure to the next level.
1. RV Grill or Camping Stove
Nothing beats the joy of cooking and enjoying a delicious meal outdoors. A portable grill is a perfect accessory for your RV, allowing you to enjoy grilled food wherever you go.
Many RVs come equipped with a kitchen area. However, if it is hot outside, or you’ve got a lot of traffic and excitement in and around your RV, an outdoor grill removes the cooking from the living space. Many units have a compact and lightweight design that makes them easy to pack and unpack.
There are many different options depending on your needs. Some units can hook directly to your on-board liquid propane tank, and others require a small portable tank. Whether you’re grilling burgers, steaks, or vegetables, a portable grill will elevate your outdoor dining experience.

2. RV Campsite Equipment
When you come back to home base after exploring the great outdoors all day, having a comfortable setup outside the RV is important. Outdoor folding chairs are lightweight, compact, and easy to store in your RV or truck bed. The right chairs will enhance any picnics, campfires, or lounging under the stars. Materials are everything, so look for chairs made from durable materials that are meant to last for many adventures to come.

In addition to Chairs, a portable table is incredibly handy. Many campsites have picnic benches, but not always. A folding table allows for extra area outside to play games, prepare food, place a grill or cooktop, and also to ensure that everyone has room at a table for meals.

3. RV First Aid Kit
Nothing throws a wrench in a weekend adventure faster than an accident or illness. Depending on where you are located, it could be difficult to seek medical care. Quite often we forget that emergency services may be seriously delayed in responding to remote areas. Because of this, it is essential to be prepared. This includes packing enough prescription medication for the duration of the trip, and also for a few days afterwards (in case there is a delay in returning). Always bring emergency epi pens and inhalers if needed. I typically like to bring antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, bandages, trauma dressings, butterflies, etc.

4. RV Emergency Supplies
Emergency supplies are incredibly important to bring when going out on an adventure. As a first responder who would sometimes be deployed to natural disasters with only an hour notice, I always kept a ‘go bag’ with me that would allow me to survive for at least 72 hours. I still practice this when embarking on seemingly harmless weekend trips. No one plans for an emergency, and a little preparation could be what saves a life. At the bare minimum, I recommend bringing a lantern or flashlight, extra batteries, a fire extinguisher (you should have one in your RV), fire starter or matches, a water filter, an emergency blanket, a multi tool and/or knife. There are many different levels for emergency packs. I prefer a pack that includes a water filter AND non perishable food supplies.

5. Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot
Even though it would be nice to spend our adventure unplugged, staying connected while on the road is still important for many people. Whether we have an important work email we need to respond to, or we want to upload the awesome photos of our day onto our social media, or we maybe even want to get cozy and stream some shows before bed. Some campgrounds have Wifi, but frequently it is shared amongst everyone in the park resulting in poor service. A portable Wi-Fi hotspot ensures you have internet access wherever you go. These devices use cellular data networks to create a personal Wi-Fi network that you can connect your devices to. Say goodbye to searching for Wi-Fi signals or relying on limited campground Wi-Fi and enjoy seamless connectivity on your outdoor adventure.

6. Outdoor Recreation Gear
Once you get to your desired location, you surely aren’t planning to spend the entire time inside your RV, right? I didn’t think so. Make sure you bring the items that crank your adventure dial up several notches. Some great examples of this are bikes, kayakes, rock climbing/bouldering equipment, hiking gear, fishing poles, backpacks, water bottles, snorkels/fins, and the list goes on and on. I like to pick the location of my adventure based on the type of adventuring I am in the mood for. This will help you narrow down the list of equipment you need to bring. And it will also help you plan future trips. If you are hitting the mountains this time, maybe you can plan a trip to the coast next time!

7. Entertainment
Your adventure will be packed to the gills with excitement, but I highly recommend planning for the quiet times as well. If this is a solo trip for you, make sure you bring a good book that you’ve been meaning to start. Or maybe bring your streaming device so you can veg out for a little bit before passing out. Don’t forget a Bluetooth speaker. And, if you’ve got company with you, bring some games or a guitar, if you play. Nothing beats the sound of music and laughter mixed with the crackling of a campfire with loved ones.
Conclusion
Enhancing your RV adventure is all about planning for the trip you WANT to have. Planning out the logistics will be well worth it when your trip unfolds smoothly. Set yourself up to have the right accessories for your individual needs and preferences. The more you do this, the easier it will be. From the convenience of a portable grill and hotspot to the safety of Emergency and First Aid Kits, you’ll be covered. And when it’s time to hit the trails or play games, you’ll be ready. With these seven must-have accessories, you’ll be ready for your next RV Adventure.
