Running out of bathroom space in your RV?
Depending on whether you’re traveling solo, with friends or family, and the size of your rig, you could be really hurting for extra bathroom storage.
Read on to find our best RV bathroom storage ideas, including some incredibly useful products that will make fitting everything far easier.
9 RV Bathroom Storage Ideas
Here are our top 9 RV bathroom storage ideas.
For each idea, we’ve found a product online to match it. However, feel free to get whatever version of said item you want to match your RV’s aesthetic.
1. Towel Racks
Say it with me: vertical space!
Take a lesson from many of the most populated cities in the world and build UP when you’re running out of space.
Vertical space allows you to make the most of your available bathroom storage by stacking items of similar size one on top of another, typically by using racks or cabinets of some kind.
A single towel can take up quite a bit of space relative to the average RV bathroom, so using a towel rack like the one above is a great way to make the most of your wall space.
2. Wall-mounted toothbrush holder
One of the best items for maximizing restroom space are modern toothbrush holder + dispensers.
They have space to hold a lot of stuff and take up relatively little space, including:
- Toothbrushes
- Toothpaste
- Razors
- Nail clippers
- Hair products
- Lotions / oils, etc.
The only issue with these dispensers is that while traveling you’ll need to remove your toothbrushes, as they don’t secure them well enough for travel (but the drawers are great for travel-safe storage).
If you have a smaller RV you may not quite have enough space for one. In that case, a smaller wall-mounted toothbrush holder can be a great idea.
It only holds your toothbrushes and toothpaste, but it can free up valuable counter space you might need for other items.
3. Toilet paper stand
Another great example of vertical space.
A toilet paper holder is a given, but a vertical toilet paper stand takes things one step further by giving you space to hold multiple rolls + extra storage typically in the form of extra rack levels.
This is especially nice because traditional toilet paper holders are often installed on walls in a way that makes them inconvenient.
4. Slide out
A slide out is an incredible storage item that can make use of that hard-to-reach under the counter space.
It not only makes storing things there easier (and makes use of vertical storage space!) but also makes getting to it easier by conveniently sliding out.
5. Hair styling rack
A hair styling rack is a horizontal rack that can be placed anywhere along your bathroom wall.
It typically includes space for a variety of items including brushes, hair dryer, and shower products.
It offers another great use of your bathroom’s wall space for storage, the key if you’re going to make the most of your bathroom’s available space.
6. Shower rack
The shower rack is a classic and especially useful in an RV.
For similar reasons as the other items we’ve mentioned on this list, a shower rack is great because it gives you extra vertical space (usually 2-3 levels of rack space with varying heights, see the example image above).
Typically, you can hold everything from shampoo and conditioner to soap, wash clothes, and razors.
7. Counter bin
Counter bins take all those extra medicine items and toiletries and bring them together into one neat, compact space.
It helps stay more organized, keeps things from falling out / around due to driving, and improves storage space by keeping things closer together.
You can also keep bins on a storage rack, further maximizing space especially when it comes to smaller items on a rack with steel rails that have large gaps in between.
8. Slim bin
Every bathroom can use a small trash can, but one thing you may not have known existed is a vertical wastebasket called a slim bin.
A slim bin is a small upgrade on a normal trash can, but they’re typically easier to fit in small spaces between toilets and cabinets and can hold more trash if you get a larger size.
9. Bonus tip: 3M adhesive hooks
Here’s a bonus tip that’s quick and easy to install but can really free up space: 3M adhesive hooks.
While not necessarily a permanent solution, 3M’s adhesive hooks are incredibly durable and can take a decent amount of weight over a very long period of time.
They might not be as useful as a full rack or shelf, but if you’ve already taken full advantage of those tips, you can use them for additional storage.
For example, you can use them to hang:
- Towels
- Coats, sweaters, and other cold gear
- Backpacks
- Purses
- Hats
These nifty little hooks are super cheap and easy to install, so they’re a quick fix for taking a variety of items you might lay on flat surfaces or on the floor and getting them up onto your free wall space.
